This piece started it all. Brent’s ‘Pacific Rim’ influence was accentuated while designing gardens in the early 90’s, at which point he could not purchase any benches that reflected that design – so he carved one himself.

A historic part of Vancouver’s redevelopment was flipping old warehouses into restaurant and entertainment areas. Short square posts of 60″ lengths were being removed from a building’s floor structure, which was ideal for a bench.
